Tolu Akinade is a PGY-4 psychiatry resident at Yale University, where she is part of the Neuroscience Research Training Program (NRTP) and an incoming scholar with the NCRP Scholars Program. Before residency, she graduated from Columbia University in 2015 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and then obtained her MD/PhD from Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Her current NTRP research focuses on better understanding and improving treatments for perinatal mental health, particularly perinatal anxiety. Her passion for women’s mental health is also reflected in her leadership role as the co-chair for the Women’s Mental Health Conference (WMHC) at Yale —the first trainee-initiated national conference of its kind –for the past 2 years. Tolu leads the Women in Psychiatry and Women’s Mental Health interest groups within Yale’s Psychiatry Residents’ Association. She is also on the psychotherapy distinction track. Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, Pilates, and traveling.

Julia Frew, MD is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics & Gynecology and Vice Chair for Education in the Psychiatry Department at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where she is also the Associate Director of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program. Julie attended medical school in the Brown-Dartmouth Program in Medical Education and completed her adult psychiatry residency at Dartmouth. She directs a perinatal psychiatry consultation clinic as well as the Dartmouth Health Moms in Recovery Program, which provides integrated medical care, mental health treatment, and substance use disorder treatment for pregnant and parenting individuals with substance use disorders. Dr. Frew’s clinical and research interests focus on the care of pregnant and parenting women with psychiatric illness and substance use disorders. She serves on the leadership team for the National Curriculum in Reproductive Psychiatry, an online curriculum providing reproductive psychiatry training to Psychiatry and Obstetrics & Gynecology trainees and practicing providers.

Lauren Gimbel, MD is an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the University of Utah Health. After residency at the University of Utah she completed a StARR scholarship focusing on research in perinatal mental health. This encompassed working across departments with psychiatry and behavioral health colleagues to create a perinatal mental health program at the University of Utah. She is currently an Assistant Professor serving as the Medical Director of the Outpatient Perinatal Mental Health Program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah. Clinically, she provides full spectrum women’s health care through all stages of life.

Dr. Gopalan is Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Chief of Psychiatry for Magee-Womens Hospital, and Medical Director of the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison service across over a dozen hospitals in the UPMC system. She has also been one of the faculty directors for the psychiatry residency’s Academic Administrator Clinician Educator (AACE) track since 2014 and is a faculty co-advisor to the Reproductive Psychiatry and Women’s Mental Health Area of Concentration at Western Psychiatric Hospital. She has been active in programmatic development around perinatal mental health and trauma-informed care, and is passionate about in teaching this to others. She is on the National Curriculum for Reproductive Psychiatry education committee where she has worked on trauma and PTSD education. Her interests include CL psychiatry, health care administration, resident education, perinatal mental health including perinatal addiction/dual diagnosis and trauma-related disorders.

Juhi Gupta is currently a 4th year psychiatry resident at UIC. She plans on pursuing a career in reproductive psychiatry on completion of training and has a special interested in treatment of substance use disorders in the perinatal period.

Dr. Neha Hudepohl completed her undergraduate education at Dartmouth College and medical school at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her general adult psychiatry residency training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2010. She was appointed Assistant Professor (Clinician Educator) at Brown University – Alpert Medical School following her graduation and was the Medical Director of the Center for Women’s Behavioral Health at Women & Infants Hospital until 2019. In 2019, Dr. Hudepohl joined Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville as Section Chief of Women’s Mental Health. She was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville in 2021. In 2022, she became the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs for the Department of Psychiatry. Her academic interests including screening and care models for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, perinatal ethics and decision-making, and medical education.

Nicole Leistikow, MD is a reproductive psychiatrist and prescribing sleep zealot. She is also an Assistant Professor and Clinical Director of the Johns Hopkins Reproductive Mental Health Center where she trains residents in managing mental illness from premenstrual exacerbation, to pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause. She completed both medical school and residency at Johns Hopkins before contributing to growing reproductive psychiatry training and clinical services at the University of Maryland. She is a former high school English teacher and freelance journalist and has written about women’s mental health for textbooks, scientific journals, and on her private practice blog at womenspsychiatrybaltimore.com.

Joanna V. MacLean, MD, is Director of Women’s Behavioral Medicine at Brown University Health, where her clinical interests include women’s mental health across the reproductive years and the integration of behavioral health into primary care and obstetric settings. She is an Associate Professor, Clinician Educator of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and of Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She directs the psychiatry residency’s Women’s Mental Health and Integrated Behavioral Health curricula and has received the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award four times. Dr. MacLean earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University and her medical degree from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, where she served as Chief Resident of Women’s Mental Health. Since joining the National Curriculum in Reproductive Psychiatry in 2014, Dr. MacLean has served in a variety of leadership roles, including leading the Longitudinal Case Conference and New Materials Committees.

Sarah Nagle-Yang, MD, is Vice Chair of Quality and Co-Section Director of the Perinatal, Reproductive, and Early Childhood Mental Health Section in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. A reproductive psychiatrist with nearly 20 years of experience, she focuses on improving access to high-quality mental health care across the reproductive lifespan. Her work includes developing innovative models of care, strengthening behavioral health integration in obstetric and primary care settings, and creating interdisciplinary education for clinicians nationwide.

Dr. Nagle-Yang is co-chair of the National Curriculum in Reproductive Psychiatry, co-editor of the APA Textbook of Women’s Reproductive Mental Health, past president of NASPOG, and co-chair of the Colorado Maternal Mortality Review Committee. She completed residency at Montefiore/Albert Einstein and fellowships at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

Julia N. Riddle, MD is an award winning educator and a reproductive psychiatry clinical researcher. Dr. Riddle completed medical school, psychiatry residency, and a two year Advanced Reproductive Psychiatry fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She then joined the Center for Women’s Mood Disorders at UNC where she serves as Director of Outpatient Psychiatry, facilitating residents clinics, faculty practice, and a Menopause Clinic. Dr. Riddle also works at on UNC Perinatal Psychiatry Inpatient Unit (PPIU) and on the North Carolina Maternal Mental Health Access Line (NCMatters). Dr. Riddle research focused on perinatal loss, neurosteroids, and physiological determinants of mental health in the peripartum. She serves on the NCRP Board of Directors and has Directed the NCRP Intensive since 2023, something she looks forward to every year!

After completing her residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Standeven pursued two years of advanced academic training in reproductive psychiatry. She spent the earlier part of her career on faculty at Johns Hopkins, serving as clinical and education director for the Johns Hopkins Reproductive Mental Health Center.

Passionate about teaching and advocacy in women’s mental health, she serves on the board of the National Curriculum in Reproductive Psychiatry, where she helped spearhead a national training program for psychiatric trainees. Her clinical expertise spans pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, reproductive loss, PMOS, PMS, and perimenopause.
